Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Coach Rob Lihalakha grew up from a highly athletic household. Nephew to an Olympic swimmer and the son of a women’s track athlete, there was no surprise that he would find a love in sports. Coach Rob started his athletic journey with the game of soccer, which was the foundation for his transition to the he sport he began to love most, basketball. He continued in his youth playing in Fort Bend ISD for Hightower HS where he had district and team honors. Upon graduation he received a scholarship to play at Cy-Fair College where during his freshman year he averaged 24.6 points a game and received runner up for conference MVP. Following an impressive freshman season Rob averaged 22 points per game and 9 rebounds his sophomore year and proved that he was more than just an offensive presence. Immediately after completing his two years at Cy-Fair College, he transferred to McNeese State University to walk-on and play for the Cowboys. During Rob’s transfer year, life took an interesting turn. The 2nd assistant coach told him that despite his stellar play on the JUCO level, he would have to sit a year out due to lack of roster spots. With the dedication that Rob had to his craft, he could not accept not playing a vital role in the success of McNeese State University’s basketball program. Within 48 hours, Rob declined the offer to be a practice player for a year and went across the field house to the Women’s basketball office. The rest was HIS-Story! Upon entering the office, Rob gave his basketball resume and decided to be a student assistant coach. Coach Williams gladly accepted. Not knowing the future outcome, Rob accepted the task and that year the McNeese Cowgirls turned around a 6-27 season to a 28-6 season and won Southland Conference Championship 2 years in a row. After the early success of being a young division-1 coach, Coach Rob moved back to Houston to start Showcase Houston and Coach in HISD schools. With his professional representation superseding himself, he turned athletes into prodigies. Shortly after being back in Houston for 2 years, Coach Rob was approached by NBA Fit & TNBA Houston Rockets to coach in skills clinics alongside NBA legends and direct/coach Rockets camps. Coach Rob enjoys building up young men and women and uses basketball as a vehicle into their young minds and hearts.
